Varney offers a state-registered apprenticeship program in the following three trades: electricity, plumbing and sheet metal. The program uses on the job training and classroom instruction to prepare workers with the skills they need to be successful in a trade. Apprenticeship classes combine traditional teaching, hands on learning and online components with the goal of providing students all the tools they need to become a licensed tradesman in the state of Virginia. Varney provides career assistance to employees in many ways, not just through the apprenticeship program. Employees that already have their professional license take continuing education classes arranged by Varney to keep abreast of changes in code and technology. With prior management approval the company will provide tuition assistance for employees taking job related courses.
